What is KLEANSTANT®?
KLEANSTANT® is a pioneering natural surfactant developed by Kaffe Bueno, a Danish biosciences company committed to circular economy principles. This breakthrough ingredient is derived from coffee waste, transforming what was once discarded into a high-performance coffee surfactant designed for personal care. Launched at the in-cosmetics Global event in Paris in April 2024, KLEANSTANT is an award-winning innovation recognized for its sustainability and effectiveness.
Founded in 2016 by three Colombian entrepreneurs—Alejandro Franco, Juan Medina, and Camilo Fernandez—Kaffe Bueno was inspired by traditional uses of coffee in Colombia, such as applying coffee grounds for skincare and healing. Observing the immense amount of spent coffee grounds discarded by the hospitality industry, the founders saw an opportunity to create value from waste. Their mission led to the development of KLEANSTANT, aligning with global trends toward eco-conscious beauty solutions.
KLEANSTANT is classified as an anionic surfactant, with a minimalist composition consisting solely of Aqua and Potassium Coffeeate . This core blend contains potassium salts of palmitic and linoleic acids, polyphenols, tocopherols, and diterpene esters—naturally occurring compounds that deliver excellent cleansing, foaming, emulsifying, and antioxidative performance. Unlike conventional surfactants, it is completely free from sulphates, palm oil, and petroleum derivatives, qualities that appeal to clean and green beauty formulators.
