China adopting Lumenizer 300
Throughout the Tokyo Olympic Games, more than 200 of the devices were deployed by Team China to provide a safe environment for their 777 members. The device provided a safe environment for athletes and co-workers to focus allowing them to fully focus on their practices and the ongoing games.
“As the short wavelength of 222 nanometers won’t penetrate human skin and eyes, it is harmless to the human body and can work when people are around,” said Wu Fan, director of the Shanghai Municipal Institute of Major Infectious Diseases and Biosafety.
Apart from the Olympic games, China has also introduced the sanitizing device in Henan and ZhengZhou Hospital. Creating a zero-virus environment in a high-bacterial area.
Going forward, China seems to be interested to deploy Lumenizer 300 device for civil use. Suggesting that the device will be practical in densely populated areas such as medical institutions, nursing homes and other commercial centers.
Lumenizer 300
Lumenizer 300 was developed by Lumenlabs together with Dr. David Brenner from Columbia University’s Center for Radiological Research. Launched on the US market in November 2020 and was used to keep Team China safe during the recent 2020 Olympic games.
Lumenizer 300, with the help of innovative Filtered Far-UVC technology it provides an elegant solution to sterilize indoor areas from harmful bacteria and viruses namely COVID-19 while people are in the room.
Different Types of UV Light
UV light is made up of 3 bands, UVA, UVB and UVC. Around 95% of the sun’s rays that reach the Earth’s surface are UVA rays (315nm – 400nm). These rays are harmful to our skin and cause wrinkles and play a role in some skin cancers.
The other 5% of the sun’s rays consist of UVB rays (280nm – 315nm) that don’t penetrate our skin as deeply but still cause significant harm to the human body, causing redness, sunburn and skin cancer.
UVC rays (100nm – 280nm) do not reach the earth’s surface as they are absorbed by the ozone layer. Studies have shown that wavelengths below 230nm aren’t able to penetrate past the protective outer layers of our skin and eyes.
Benefits of 222nm UVC:
Safe for human use while retaining the effective sterilization
Automated disinfection, reduce the reliance on manual labour & increase productivity.
Key Product Summary:
Research-backed and proven, developed by the University of Columbia
Automated continuous disinfection with 99.9% efficiency for viruses and bacteria at high traffic areas.
Safe to human exposure, unlike traditional 254nm lamps, which require evacuation during the process of disinfection, the highest safety rating in IEC 62471.
Easy integration & installation to ceiling walls of rooms and facilities.
