Q3. how to create a skin-like finish?

Answer :

1. Creating a Smooth, Blurring Skin Texture  :
Silicone elastomer gels such as TCE-3063 create a silky, powdery texture and deliver a soft-focus effect that blurs pores and fine lines, helping the skin appear smoother and more refined.

2. Lightweight Spreading & Breathable Feel  :
Light silicones like Dimethicone 5cst (TCS-5) and volatile silicone Cyclopentasiloxane (TC-6500) improve spreadability and reduce drag from pigments, allowing the formula to glide easily and feel light and breathable on the skin.
3. Balanced Glow (Not Too Matte, Not Too Shiny) :
Ingredients such as Phenyl Trimethicone (TCA-5560) help maintain a subtle radiance so the finish looks healthy and hydrated rather than dry or flat.

4. Even Pigment Distribution for Natural Coverage (Highlight more) :
Emollients like Amilip LSE (Isopropyl Lauroyl Sarcosinate) help disperse pigments evenly, preventing clumping or cakiness and ensuring smooth blending with
natural-looking coverage.

5. Long-Lasting Skin-Like Performance :

Film formers such as Trimethylsiloxysilicate (TC-SR series) create a flexible film that locks the base makeup in place, improving adhesion and long-lasting wear while keeping the finish comfortable.

Q4. What are the key formulation insights behind these formulas?

Answer :

1. Choosing the Right Emulsion System Is Critical  :

To achieve a lightweight, skin-like texture, a W/Si (Water-in-Silicone) system was selected.  However, stabilizing a formula containing silicones, oils, pigments, and UV filters can be challenging, and not all silicone emulsifiers are able to maintain long-term stability without phase separation.

Finding the right emulsifier combination was essential for achieving both stability and good application performance. A single silicone emulsifier often struggles to stabilize complex liquid makeup systems while maintaining smooth spreading and pigment suspension.

The combination of TC MAGIC 3090 and TC MAGIC 3038 created strong synergy in this formula. Together they improved emulsion stability, enhanced spreading, and helped keep pigments evenly suspended, resulting in a smoother and more reliable base makeup system.

2. Salt-Free Stability for W/Si Systems

W/Si systems often rely on electrolytes or salt to maintain emulsion stability. Surprisingly, Amin SG95U / SGNa (Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate) can effectively replace salt while still delivering excellent stability. and they can be acting as a
co-emulsifier, this combination helps create a stable and well-balanced liquid makeup formula.

3. Pigment Dispersion Determines Coverage Quality

High pigment levels are necessary for coverage, but they can also cause clumping, uneven color payoff, or sedimentation if dispersion is not properly controlled.

Amilip LSE (Isopropyl Lauroyl Sarcosinate) played a key role in improving pigment dispersion in this formula.

It helps improve the solubilization of challenging ingredients such as high-load UV filters. This allows formulators to reduce excess oil phase while maintaining smooth spreading and a lightweight skin-like finish."

4. Texture and Stability Must Work Together

Creating a skin-like finish requires more than just stability; the formula must also feel light and comfortable on the skin. Balancing structure and sensory texture is therefore an important part of the formulation process.

Ingredients such as TCE-3063 silicone elastomer gel help increase viscosity and stabilize the system while delivering a silky, soft-focus texture. At the same time, elastomer networks contribute to the blurred, skin-like visual effect that defines modern base makeup.
